Beverley Races

Beverley is an historic market town in East Riding of Yorkshire. 1300 years of history has left the town with some notable architecture, including Beverley Minster and some historic culture too in the marketplace and in Beverley Racecourse, part of the town for more than 300 years. The racecourse hosts right handed flat racing over 1 mile and 3 furlongs. An uphill course throughout the races, Beverley Races offers significant challenges for race horses, especially on soft ground, and favours horses with good stamina.

Beverley Races, inside rail The highlight of the flat racing calendar at Beverley is the Hilary Needler Trophy, for two year old fillies. The Rapid Lad Handicap and Beverley Bullet Sprint Stakes are other notable races. The racecourse is within easy walking distance of the town and is a popular local attraction as well as drawing visitors from further afield. There are three evening meetings held and these are particular popular points in the social and riding calendar.

For casual race goers, Beverley is renowned as a friendly racecourse where the scope for hospitality ranges from a fun family picnic day at Beverley Races to the finest champagne within elegant surrounds. Tickets, or badges as they are known, can be purchased in advanced or on the day itself but for the more popular race days advance booking is recommended to avoid disappointment.

The first thing to do on arrival is buy a racecard which will list all the races of the day in addition to other useful information to make the most from the event and facilities.

The badge you purchase will allow admission into the enclosure of your choice, with options which include the Premier Enclosure, Grandstand and Paddock Enclosure, and Course Enclosure. Each has its own special appeal depending on what you desire from your raceday experience.

For first class facilities and enjoying dining and drinks in style, the Premier Enclosure is the place to be. Great views over the entire track are of course a central feature and your badge for the Premier Enclosure will also permit access to other areas of the course. A la carte dining is provided within Attractions Restaurant and advanced booking of tables is recommended. No external food and drink are permitted. A smart dress code is in operation for the Premier Enclosure and the ambience reflects all the historic elegance, culture and charm so typical of high class horseracing.

The largest enclosure on the racecourse is the Grandstand and Paddock Enclosure and it contains a wealth of facilities for racegoers including food and drink outlets and bookmakers. Rapid Lad Bar is also found here and contains big screen race action and betting facilities. As with the Premier enclosure, race goers are not permitted to bring in their own food and drink.

The Course Enclosure is perfect for the casual racegoer and all the family. Cars can be parked close to the track and visitors can enjoy a picnic while enjoying all the thrill of the races. Further eating and drinking possibilities are provided by the Hurn Bar which is situated adjacent to a children's adventure playground. Transfers are available on race days for those who wish to access the Grandstand and Paddock. There are also certain themed events and special days when further attractions are on offer within the Course Enclosure.

Beverley Races, photo finish A badge for the Premier Enclosure costs £19.00, and for the Grandstand and Paddock, £12.00. Admission to the course Enclosure costs £5.00 per car and £5.00 per person.

Senior citizens and students enjoy special rates to all enclosures and anyone under 18 is admitted free when accompanied by an adult, meaning family days out at Beverley Races are particular popular and an excellent way to spend some time during a holiday in Yorkshire or simply as a great local day out.

Beverley Races also provides the perfect opportunity for group days out, whether with family or friends or as a corporate get together. Special rates are available for group bookings. Private suites are available to accommodate up to 70 persons and for larger groups marquees can be erected at certain prime locations.

Private suites within the Premier Enclosure offer panoramic views over the course and Yorkshire Wolds beyond. They also feature individual balconies, perfectly placed to view each race, close circuit televisions and easy access to a betting facility. A complimentary racecard for each guest is provided.

The social highlight of the racing calendar at Beverley is Ladies Day, when ladies and gents put their best foot forward and enjoy a glorious mix of colour, fun, high fashion and spectacular racing. Ladies Day is held in August and prior booking of tickets and restaurant reservations is essential.

A full range of catering options is available too, from buffet selections to full meals, prepared by award winning catering team CGC Events. Race day or not, Beverley Races presents the ideal venue for enjoying wonderful hospitality for functions and private celebrations. Weddings, business meetings and trade exhibitions all find that Beverley Racecourse forms the perfect environment and special events such as Christmas party nights are also very popular.

The town of Beverley itself has many attractions for visitors who have some time to spend in the area and in addition to a good selection of restaurants, bars and shops has a wealth of accommodation options too.
